Katori chat

kneaded dough spread evenly on a steel cup
Experimenting mood is my special visitor. Coz, usually the experiments turn out good. It may be since I’ll be too cautious as a first timer. This Wednesday, amma and appaji had been out, and it was my turn to cook for the day. My bro in law, his kid and my Nithin were at home. I wanted to prepare something for the evening snack and I recollected this chat which I saw on a TV show a few days back. I felt it messy since I had to deal with sticky maida flour as I was meddling with it for the first time. But my cooking paid off thoroughly when all of them enjoyed the chat.
In this one, the uniqueness lies in edible katori.
Here is its recipe...
Needed to knead:
Maida, salt, cumin, pepper powder, few tsps oil
Katori Chat
Method:

grams, sweet and green chutneys
Roll out kneaded dough to make small chapati and stick it around a small straight edged bowl as in picture and put it carefully in hot oil for deep frying. The steel cup can easily be removed from oil with the help of a spoon once the dough outside the bowl is half done. Dough will retain its cup shape. Once the whole Maida Katori turns golden brown, remove from the pan and place on some tissues to remove excess oil.
Katori chat---
• Place prepared katori in a serving bowl
• Spread a pinch of chat masala
• Add boiled grams
• Spread a spoon full of sweet and green chutneys (according to taste preference)
• Add onions, a pinch of salt, amchur powder, chat masala

Sweet-sour chutney ….. Grind these:
Tamarind, seedless dates, cumin, little salt, little jaggery
Green-hot chutney ….. Grind these:
Green chillies, a bunch of cilantro, few pudina leaves, little salt, cumin
Checklist for filling Katori,

• soaked, boiled and salted black gram
• soaked, boiled and salted green gram
• sev/chips (optional)

Powders needed:
Chat masala, amchur powder

Anniversary

YES!!!

There is nostalgia when you’ve to stay up most of the night for the rituals a few days before marriage. But all the tiresomeness vanishes the moment you are put in limelight (since crave for publicity is a human tendency :) ). The sweetest thing is the dream that you pile up about the after married life. It might be the only dream that unknowingly keeps you awake during nights in anticipation of the good days to come. All the family members insist you to take more rest than taking any responsibilities; they kindle you for being in rosy dreams all the time, so, basically its time when you see everything in the world revolves around you. Even the dirtiest traffic will turn with all its positive things to a rhythmic music and mesmerizing carbon monoxide’s artistic escape from vehicles into the wind.

The happiest public moment  ;)  in married life is their marriage itself. It feels like it’d be great if people had annual marriage ritual. Given an opportunity, we would definitely marry every year in different customs and styles. Its basically so nice to see all relatives and friends happy about the ceremony. They wish you and bless you, tell secret things of their knowledge about the couple’s childhood. And basically there’s a huge gathering where the couple is crowned the king and queen of the ceremony.

And…………

Its been an year since r marriage!!

And, we’re so happy about it.
Being in each other's arms, when we think of all the past moments of our marriage, its not just an event, but a lifetime sweetest memory for us!!

Revolution 2020 - Chetan Bhagat

It  always happens so. I have read all the books that Bhagat has penned down in one gulp. I doubted about this one, since it was usual to dread if the novel doesnt match upto the expectations. Bhagat has managed to give a Go-Read effect in this one too, making it hard to pause R2020 till its complete. Its simple style of story telling is what making India read all his novels to be the best sellers every time.

This time, Bhagat narrates the story of the Director of a college in Varanasi, Gopal, an innocent young boy who later choses to live a villian's life by accepting the path of corruption to make money and succeed in his luck slapped life. The narration justifies his malpractices with his growth and undying love towards a childhood friend Aarti who hails from a family of clean political background. He fails to retract his one sided love even when he knows that she has a boyfriend and he is his own best buddy from school days, Raghav, who craves to revolutionise the country by the year 2020. The girl also gets convinced about Gopal's love when she lacks constant attention from goal- oriented Raghav who has little time left for her in his achievements of journalism. She begins to accept Gopal gradually into her life. But realising Raghav's moral intentions, and owing to rationality rather than his personal preferences, Gopal helps Raghav patch up his relationship with Aarti and he slides out himself  from their life, leaving Aarti no cause for regret.

The narration believes that the revolution has to start somewhere and media and politics shall play a very important role in it. Being perfect movie material like the previous ones, it ends with a hope to change the corrupt beuraucratic system. Its a book to be read by everyone to get motivated about their life too.

Indeed, a book to be added in our shelves. Could not supress the urge to write wat i felt about the novel!! Its just that.........The Bhagat Mania is back!!!

Veg Cheese- buster Pizza

I was in a mood to experiment with my kitchen this weekend. We shopped for raw materials to prepare pizza. I spread a little of butter all over the base, and layered it once with grated mozarella cheese. Then I topped it with vegetables tossed with spices and a little tomato sauce. Then, I grated a thick layer of cheese on them and baked in my pre heated oven for about 7 to 8 minutes. The trickiest part was baking, since i did not have a conventional oven to preset temperature. I had to depend on watt dispaly of my microwave instead. I used grilling to bake for 5 minutes, and 3- 3.5 minutes with grill and microwave option. Second one came out real good; Ofcourse, only after partial charring of a pizza though ;)

Here goes its ingredient list.

Note:
Hey, i dont believe in exact guidance over proportions while cooking. I just follow instinct of my senses. ((( Mainly nose! ;)   )))

Pizza base
Few spoons of Butter
A relishing mix of chopped vegetables [ I used Onions, Capsicum, Tomato, Baby corn, Sweet corn kernels, and just to add a tang, i used a cut spring onion too]
A pack of Mozarella cheese right out of freezer
Spices : Salt, Chilly Powder, Pepper Powder, Chat Masala, A pinch of Dry Mango Powder [Depending on taste buds, customize proportions]
Tomato sauce (ketchup or Hot&sweet sauce), a little, to toss vegetables in order to ensure a proper blend of spices, and to dip the whole tip of every bite of pizza when its ready.... :)

I too had a love story

I was longing to pen this down since i read the novel by Ravinder Singh, a Techie from profession. Its more an experience than a novel. There are novels which build lot of curiosity and keep you reading through them till the end, many of them are quotable among fictious and thriller story line. But this one speaks only about an innocent love, the author who went through a cenematic experience and could find an author in him because of his silence in life. Reader cant hide his smile and is sure to feel happy for the author and be a part of his celebration during the book and be sad while reading its last part.

The story starts with the reunion of three of author's best buddies who later discuss the topic "marriage" for the first time, decide on checking out their luck through a matrimonial portal. The author Ravin gets in touch with Khushi in shadi.com and they fall in love. It takes quiet a long time for them to meet each other in person owing to their long distance.

This paragraph describes their first meet
-
And there she was!
My angel, my beautiful one.
Her smile which tried to override my senses. That chilling hesitation in her, and in me. Her long untied hair that fell upon her eyes with a gust of wind. Her hand moving across her face, and moving her hair behind her left ear. Her left ear, and the glittering silver earring she was wearing. Her beatiful face, which mesmerized me...
-
and then there is celebration everywhere in air. Their families meet to discuss about their engagement.

It will make your eyes wet when Khushi meets with an accident, just before 2 days of their engagement. The author rushes to her place.
This is his peice of conversation with the doctor at a point where she's shifted to another hospital, when the former lost hopes that they can retrieve her from fast approaching death.
-
I was silent for a while. Then, in a shaking voice, I asked her (the doctor), "Can you save my love?"

"God will help us all to save your love". She put her hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me and raise my hopes.
-
Two people meet though matrimonial site to fall in love. They owe to be together for the rest of their lives.......  But..... this love story stays incomplete, as its title reflects.
It sails us through the author's emotions in a poetic way which refrains us to wrap up the book anywhere before its completion. To be precise, it a poetic feel wrapped in a legendary love tale. Every moment is to be lived to the fullest- if you also are a person who loves your life, if life to you is a celebration, for those who laugh and cry and can live the moment with a book in your hand, then this is a novel meant for you. Thanks to my friend, who gifted it.

Once you complete reading the novel, you will feel as though you have been with Ravin during the narration, and may be you would browse net for that couple's picture...., just like i did.
