</div><p>Kashmir files.</p><p>After reading about the movie that had the most interesting topic since decades, we couldn't wait till all stars come together to help us watch the movie in peace. Sneaking out time off from every pressing work, we somehow got into movie hall.</p><p>My review: 3.5 stars as a movie and a 5 fine stars for the information in it.</p><p>The movie is fine-studded by hidden gems of truth; truth that was seldom spoken. Offlate it's a complete politicisation of any opinion about the issue that let a wonderful part of our nation burn and get scarred for ever. The moment anyone speaks about the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits, they are branded a certainty but instead if anyone sympathises with the false and decorated narrative of media around the world, they are approved in no time.</p><p>No matter how ghastly the past is, I everytime fail to understand the pinks with which the media wants to paint it and present to the world. We aptly forget that the cheapsters in media play yellow journalism and embrace what we also think appeals to us; may be by believing that the genocide was an exodus. </p><p>I don't think it is that appealing to imagine a person cut in halves on a saw or ladies who were brutally raped or died even before someone would get to them with such intentions. </p><p>Even today I fail to totally imagine how a race can be deemed harmless and did not figure out what was coming at them and fight it out instead of giving in. This movie has made an effort at bringing together the facts, as many as possible within the boundaries of keeping it as a movie and not a documentary. In the process, ofcourse there are shortcomings in keeping the audience connected throughout and hence the 3.5 rating for it as a movie.</p><p>As I say that, I am fully aware that every Indian must watch the movie since the facts have merely been hidden away for too long.</p><p>Unlike the Holocaust on Jews, Cambodian genocide in Democratic Kampuchia, Armenian genocide in ottoman or the atrocities on Rohingyas of Myanmar, this story of Kashmiri Pandits is hidden since long and it needed a pardafash too. Afterall, we must open our eyes to what we call it knowledge without biased rally cry of Muslims being minority, oppressed and suppressed.</p><p>The experts quote even more of what happened in various books. No movie of 2.5 hour can do justice to what the entire community of Kashmiri Pandits went through; seeing a demon in peaceful neighbours, to seeing their own friends turning them in, to seeing their children die before them, to leaving everything that they believed is theirs behind, to being penniless, to seeing a generation of miscarriages, broken families, and yet not leaving their passion for learning and education despite the genocide, to building their broken hearts and homes in a new place unknown to them till then.</p><p>Aah! Yes, it's less on screen and ofcourse more to plunder on the topic.</p>Suprabha Suthani Matthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15309731331383027679noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474911170922145874.post-41498780736287714732021-01-16T21:22:00.005+05:302021-01-17T22:29:02.585+05:30Tandav : Amazon Web Series - A Review <p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://soundcloud.com/suprabha-s-m/tandav-web-series-review-by-suprabha-sulthani-matt" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Tandav - Amazon Prime Video" border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1638" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JMTi4tN6paI/YAMA0KqBLRI/AAAAAAAAWYA/MQ4TNf44QigUDr7IW8JGK8fp8PYUl3DMACLcBGAsYHQ/w256-h320/MV5BNzRjMjhmZmUtYjRhNS00YjlmLWI4MzUtMDFhM2E0MjAyZGRjXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTEwNDM0NTI2._V1_.jpg" title="Tandav- IMDB image" width="256"></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://soundcloud.com/suprabha-s-m/tandav-web-series-review-by-suprabha-sulthani-matt" target="_blank"><b>Click here to listen to the review</b></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">TANDAV - with the trailer itself so powerful, and a risky - pesky time of no-visit to theaters since long made me wait for this series for days. Grabbing the first opportunity we could, we curled up with enough snacks to last for the season and give us a theater-like feel. The Tandav unfurled itself with the ultimate move that Saif Ali Khan (as Samar Pratap Singh) does for power. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">In a nutshell, Tandav is a political drama about how Samar - Son of a sitting Prime Minister of India plays out to become the ruler, starting with his father's murder. Now, there is murder, there is conspiracy attached, thirst for power that everyone plunges at, precisey when the ruler is no more; There is also blackmail, there is unfaithfulness, and there is manipulation that comes with it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">In a parallel story that runs along, is Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub (as Shiva Shekhar) who is a university student fueled with a potent mix of eagerness to do something, and still exploring his possibilities at what life has to offer him. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">The paths of Samar and Shiva cross soon when Samar realizes that he wants to be the King maker if he cannot be the king. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Flawless direction by Ali Abbas Zafar to the story line written by himself and Gaurav Solanki is a treat to viewers. Dimple Kapadia as <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11117570/characters/nm0438092?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t2" style="background-color: #fbfbfb; box-sizing: border-box; color: #70579d; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; text-align: left; text-decoration-line: none;">Anuradha Kishore</a>, <a href="https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1122912/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t24" style="background-color: #fbfbfb; box-sizing: border-box; color: #70579d; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; text-align: left; text-decoration-line: none;">Kumud Mishra</a> as <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11117570/characters/nm1122912?ref_=ttfc_fc_cl_t24" style="background-color: #fbfbfb; box-sizing: border-box; color: #136cb2; font-family: Verdana, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px; text-align: left;">Gopal Das Munshi</a> have done their jobs wonderfully well. Sunil Grover as Gurpal Chauhan must have a special mention because of the outstanding support cast as a cold persuader.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Now let's come to what this series has to offer the viewers, when observed closely by someone who keeps an occasional tab on current events. A Rightist party, students from University like JNU, in this series who are usually not okay with anything that's right, Student leader Shiva who reminds of Kanhaiyya Kumar from JNU, Barkha Dutt resembling reporter who listens to students and helps them when none other does, Government suppressing farmer's protests, which then yields to it favorably, Police - which acts according to orders from high - up in the political hierarchy, who shoots two innocent youth and frames them on UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act), party IT cell portrayed like hashtag trending factory on social media and may be even more resemblances to someone who keeps a tab on current events regularly.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">What the viewer sees through mostly, is the series as an entertainer that is worth watching, and yes, absolutely, the team of Tandav has delivered it in a mish-mash of imagination and amalgamation of current events, only as much required to perk the viewer expectations up to the second series.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Just curious, if the team will also include something about these in their upcoming series- any leftist opposition party that is not-even-mentioned once, and about all darker shaded characters surnamed Singh, Shekar, Chauhan, Munshi, Mishra that could ocasionally be surnames from Muslims and minority exactly like the ones in this series 1 who are killed, lynched, tortured, anyone who misses opportunity or their fair opportunity is snatched away heartlessly, the downtrodden, and like only the name of true workers to uplift the downtrodden.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">When someone watches this series because of its great make after twenty, or thirty or forty years, they will always perceive it closely linked to what was happening in 2010's and 2020's. For that matter, every series that is made to look like its shot in some imaginary era when all the downtrodden from the Indian Society were only Dalits and Muslims.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><p></p>Suprabha Suthani Matthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15309731331383027679noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6474911170922145874.post-76304454424316193012020-08-01T21:57:00.001+05:302020-08-01T21:57:29.453+05:30Shakuntala Devi<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Shakuntala Devi: A world-renowned mathematician, known for her scientifically inexplicable master-brain with numbers, with no formal education had always kept me amazed, but from a great emotional distance.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I knew her as a human computer, and that's that. So much for an Indian personality known world-wide!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Through this movie, with a brilliant screenplay and direction, Anu Menon and dialogue writer Ishita Moitra have spun a magic wand of bringing Shakuntala Devi's personal life back from the dead. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I sometimes wonder how would it be to lead a life being child prodigy. This lady did, and it was difficult foregoing the childhood for she never let success get ahead of her. The screenplay in the movie has added bit of spice to pump up life into her story, but her own life as is was never less of any!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This movie will leave the viewer with a feeling of watching a great life's story and stay amazed at the personal touch it has. Grey patches exist in everyone's life here and there, and they are real, no matter how successful you are, or how publicly loved you are. Handling each challenging circumstance depend on the head-weight of the person in question, the baggage that the person carries, and the experiences that one learns from deep scratches on one's leg of thoughts.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="text-align: justify;">Vidya Balan as Shakuntala Devi on screen is full of life, math and laughter, Sanya Malhotra as Anupama Banerjee, her daughter, leaves us keep wondering about how the life of a kid with informal education due to prodigy parent turns out a roller coaster ride of choices and these two casts in the movie seem very well-weighed and created on screen. </span></div>
<br />
Being woman is not only about having a family, doing house-hold chores and raising kids, but also a balance that is hard to strike with what a woman wants in her life. Each movie is an experience and this one is not the one to be missed!<br />
Four Stars for sure!<br />

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Thappad- Hindi movie looks like it could run in theatres farther, if lockdown wasn't imposed. It is a kind of movie where I cannot say that it is an amazing movie, but if one is looking for a movie that can leave an impact, this is a must watch. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Story line: Tapsi Pannu in lead role, taking on her husband for a slap.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Seems a bleak one liner, isn't it? What do you think is the line of limit for a relationship? When do you know that a relationship has totally worn-out? When the word 'relationship' itself is so relative to how much two people are bonded to each other, how do you decide when it could end? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
They say bond breaks without a snapping sound. This movie is a reflection of how differently each of us with a variety of perceptions see a cross-over in a relationship. What may seem ok to one, may seem a blunder to the other. Relationship lies in relying on the delicate balance that keeps both personalities in the bond involved, yet feeling respectful of themselves.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As the movie progresses, it has tried to portray us how first-time slapping one's own wife is pursued as an okay act by many relatives. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To a girl who has left everything that she ever loved, and who has accepted a new way of life by reconsidering and compromising so many of her priorities after marriage, it becomes a matter of reconciliation, with whatever she perceives as her line of limit. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The takeaway for viewer here is a retrospection of the past events in their life with their loved ones, for sure. But it is an eye-opener to not get entangled in any relationship so much that we lose our identity in it. Any individual has their priorities in life before getting married, and each one of us slowly realise that we have changed so much in life after our marriage, with umpteen adjustments that gradually eat up our likes, we must just make sure that we do not let the parasitic adjustments eat up our Lives!!!</div>

</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
ನನ್ನ ಪತಿ ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿ ೩ ಗಂಟೆಯವರೆಗೂ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಕೆಳಗಿಡದೆ ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಕಾಮಾಠಿಪುರದ ಮಗುವಿನ ಬವಣೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನಾನು ದುಃಖಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅಳುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಗಮನಿಸಿ, - "ಟ್ವೀಟ್ ಮಾಡ್ತೀನಿ @sahanavijayakumar, you have messed with my wife's brain" ಎನ್ನುವಾಗ ನನ್ನ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದಹಾಸ 😍 😁<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">This birthday was a day which reminded me how difficult everyday is, for a working mother. Mix of emotions and very tight schedule at the same time. It's all the while difficult when you want to feel special for you know it is your birthday but your responsibilities won't allow you take a day off from the work you do. Neither in kitchen, nor at relationships as well. I laughed, I cried, I worked hard, I partied hard, was under very tight schedule, and did relax well too. As a part of too many days in one day, me and my husband had the movie scheduled in midst of last minute travel in two wheeler as usual with just a bit of rain to up the traffic. Reaching the venue heroically, finally we made it on time for the national anthem's tune. All we had was one thing in mind; This movie better be worth the traffic risk we took! 😊</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;">Tara Shinde, the project manager of Mission Mars
reminds her team of their purpose of being scientists by sort of time travel to their very first memory that led to the determination of becoming a scientist one day. </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;">Rakesh Sharma, the Chief Scientist seems an oddball when convincing the panel
for supporting his mission every time his superiors find excuses to drop it. He barges in the meeting of chandrayan twice to prove his point once and to pitch for funds, in rather ridiculous seeming poori frying and pretending to talk to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;">Overtly dramatic as these two sequences might seem to the viewer, were still required to lighten up the heavy subject of research and satellite
launch. The amount of pain that the Mars team would have taken to convince
everyone else of their home science based rocket science, especially at a time
when the mission had no funds of its own and bizarre idea of trusting a Hohmann
Transfer Orbit* that was propounded a century ago, indeed has a vast scope of
imagination to screenplay of Ravi Varman and direction of Jagan Shakti for
creating an effective movie to celebrate the achievement.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; text-align: justify;"><br></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Most government projects tend to extend their set time which they give numerous reasons for delay. </span><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">A mission that was made possible in the record time of
15 months will always be a wonder in a government run institution. India is the
first country to be successful in inserting a satellite into Mars in its first
attempt, that we all are super proud about. This movie is an attempt at giving this
achievement a human touch by weaving it with a palatable story.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Weaving a handful of hilarious turn of events, it
feels good to have a right mixture of fun and work in the story. The movie definitely
inspires us towards the career that we have chosen in life. A super booster
movie for women indeed who are the face of their family and a pride at whatever they are best at.<o:p></o:p></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><br></span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-GB" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">How the women on mission handle situations and casualties at home as well as at work is what I could relate to, being a working woman myself. Balancing work and family is a humongous task which can only be taken and balanced one issue after the other as they come along in everyday life.</span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fw_adxvXJZo/XUBYnXaieMI/AAAAAAAANxg/MUM1u--vXs8gOwM2KQct20cI6NiQ0sN3gCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/Vanara.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Fw_adxvXJZo/XUBYnXaieMI/AAAAAAAANxg/MUM1u--vXs8gOwM2KQct20cI6NiQ0sN3gCK4BGAYYCw/s400/Vanara.jpeg" width="300" /></a>Let me tell you a bit about the backdrop of this story that it is woven upon.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Valmiki Ramayana tells the tale of how Sugreeva and his Vanara sena helped Rama fight Ravana and rescue Sita. This Sugreeva was an outcast of his brother Vaali or Baali's Kishkinda. He was evicted from the Kingdom of Kishkinda by his own brother who was very dear to him. This is since Sugreeva had married Tara and was ruling Kishkinda since he believed his brother was dead in battle with Mayavi. But the moment Baali comes back winning over the demon, he charges his brother with treachery and evicts him from Kishkinda. Sugreeva waits in vain being an outcast until he meets Rama. Then Sugreeva invites Baali for a duel and Rama killed Baali by standing behind a nearby tree. Sugreeva is crowned again and after him, Angada, son of Tara and Baali is made the Prince of Kishkinda.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now this act of Rama is justified in various texts in different ways, backing him up that this was done to save Dharma ultimately. This event always leaves a hollow in the epic of Ramayana nevertheless. This novel Vaanara is an attempt at weaving the sequence of events.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anand Neelakantan has a finesse story telling that captivates the reader. I must mention how he weaves in chapter after chapter. Every chapter ends as a prelude to the next chapter which keeps the reader on toes until the story is completed. One simply cannot put this book down and be at peace until the reading is done. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Dilemma of Tara about the two brothers, though she heartily loves one and tries to despise the other, her thoughts are stuck not knowing which way to waiver. Baali is so lost in building an empire that though he loves Tara with all his heart, he is unable to spend enough time with her. Meanwhile encashing all this, Sugreeva lusts for his sister-in-law, unknowing of the consequences that it might pose; once Tara is married to Sugreeva as Baali does not return from fighting Mayavi and is thought to be dead, Sugreeva sees that the appeal of having Tara as his is vanished completely, and a constant hindrance towards the relationship sets in. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Though Tara marries two brothers, she is still considered the virtuous wife and is given a worshipful place till today. Giving the benefit of doubt to the tale that she is considered a pious and virtuous wife, author gives it a justified ending that Tara after Angada and Sugreeva return victorious post battle with Ravana, stays in the sacred grove of seven palmyra trees that Baali had envisioned and nurtured; thinking every moment of Baali, she lives as a telltale to the whole of Kishkinda until her last breath, serving the city-dwellers with her wise deeds and words.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The loyalty of the abandoned wolf pup 'Chemba' raised by Baali is a part of the story that touches the most. The wolf's tried and true love towards its master is depicted well in parts of story where it stays near the cave till its master returns victorious from his struggle with the demon and its unfailing attempts at digging his grave though its claws are all worn out from the futile effort. Chemba still believes that somehow he can bring his master back from the dead if it digs enough to reach his body even after death of Baali.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The sublime character of Baali and Sugreeva's foster father Riksharajas, the valour of Ravana depicted in even his defeat against Baali in duel, the motherly turned pompous Ruma - the wife of Sugreeva, the demonity that is illustrated in weaving sequence about the humongous bull Dundubhi that is brought by Sugreeva, the plight of the outcast - Vana naras - called later as Vanaras, the love and understanding of the two brothers - Baali and Sugreeva and the intervention to their fraternal bonding with entry of Tara in their life, the only amazing city that they build deep in the woods with all amenities and aiming at no caste- colour discrimination is all that is part of reading hangover. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Definitely a thumbs up for even those who despise heavy reading.</div>
</div>

<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Each war has many stories to tell. Of the martyrs, of the survivors, of the wounded, and of the hounded. If wars were only documented, the lines become meager numbers on paper. When a movie like Kesari is made on a lesser known but bravest of battles fought under British India, heart swells with pride for their bravado.</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
North Western Frontier Province, part of Pakistan in today's world map had witnessed a constant friction and confrontation between Afghans and British. Many of us may know that 21 Sikhs belonging to 36 Sikh regiment killed over 600 Afghans in the battle of Saragarhi. The level of motivation it took not to run away from overwhelming 10000 Afghans and the power of commitment they got in them at that crisis is a question of creative liberty for screenplay and direction. Director Anurag Singh has tapped the right chords to create a slow and touchy movie that says about the turn of events and glorifies the brave battle, ever so rightly.</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
The movie keeps you in splits at times, touches the raw nerve of British ruled India, flares the viewer's patriotism and polishes our religious beliefs, all at right times during the movie. Songs compliment the pace of the movie. It is a slow paced movie, but deliberately been made so. First 30 minutes is just an under-structure for the story that is to be unveiled. </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
Akshay Kumar as Hawaldar Ishar Singh is not the only glorified hero but one among the heroes who fought and were martyred that day. Screenplay has given a rightful space and justice for each hero among the 21+1. The brutality of force and strategies of the then group of Afghans makes us mull over the story and events that we have read about Afghanistan, Lashqar and Taliban in recent times.</div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div>
None of us moved even when the movie had completed its show. We were shun to silence. It took a moment more to realize that we had to leave the movie hall.</div>
</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Jhansi Rani Lakshmibai, one of the key leaders of the Sepoy mutiny against British raj, strategically escaped twice from the British army, gave an arduous fight and was a nightmare to the Angrezi Sarkar until she chose her death by being a rebellion in a battle near Gwalior. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<a href="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/44/Manikarnika_Poster.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em; text-align: justify;"><img alt="Manikarnika Poster.jpg" border="0" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/44/Manikarnika_Poster.jpg" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As British officer Hugh Rose commented in his battle report, Jhansi Rani was the most dangerous of all Indian leaders. Our heart swells with pride when the story unveils on screen, and the battle tactics used at that time is commendable. Story is kept intact as much possible and the glorification of Rani as a personality seems apt in many frames.</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This movie itself seems like a mark of respect for a leader's story which sprung through the hoodlum effort by British to erase her name in the History of India. The moment when Lakshmibai jumps off the fort of Jhansi while trying to save her heir is enough to prove how outgoing and rebellious she could have been who survived battles and did not give in an opportunity for British for being captured alive. This sacrifice is what she believed will become a precedence and instilled an undying urge in Indians about Swaraj.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now about the movie, Indian audience have watched Baahubali which has given us an excellent VFX that is lasting even after years of its release; we have watched Baajirao Mastani which featured Baajirao, a courtier of Jhansi empire; we have watched an excellent epos with a right mix of everything- VFX, story line, Direction, editing, scale, songs and performance in Padmaavat recently.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Manikarnika has everything, but lacks the same intensity of direction almost for the first 40 minutes. It is noticeable, had this movie been in the hands of a more experienced director, this could have been improvised here and there. I cannot conclude that the movie hasn't much to offer the audience as well, even in those first 40 minutes. But the direction seems a cracked spell at times during the movie which seems crackled further through poor VFX during few instances. Songs are amazing, which is as a matter of fact drew me to the theater. Shankar Ehsaan Loy are back with a bang, that has complimented Prasoon Joshi's lyrics so rightly. But what is lacking, is timing in the movie. Songs seem a bit too many in the movie which would have sounded even better if their gelling with the flow of the movie was better. Songs should always be rightly placed, and must compliment the movie rather than being an impediment to its flow, is what I believe.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Having said that, there is no doubt that the battle scenes, scenes with weaving battle strategics are commendable. Kangana Ranaut has proved yet again that she can mold into any character that comes to her in making. Supporting crew has done their job great. A one time watch, and lore to sing in bits for a long time, for sure.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
✮✮✮<img alt="File:The place from where Rani Lakshmibai jumped.jpg" src="https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/30/The_place_from_where_Rani_Lakshmibai_jumped.jpg/800px-The_place_from_where_Rani_Lakshmibai_jumped.jpg" /></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iWt_TPxjcWM/WxfF6wWECLI/AAAAAAAALHg/6frD838nxTAQR1mcMrxttl2NQf-i1KErgCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/1527759039_veere-di-wedding.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iWt_TPxjcWM/WxfF6wWECLI/AAAAAAAALHg/6frD838nxTAQR1mcMrxttl2NQf-i1KErgCK4BGAYYCw/s320/1527759039_veere-di-wedding.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Below the belt talk O..M..G..! Ladies messing around with their lives? No No No. How can girls be themselves amidst everyone? </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
- One can enjoy a movie only if your mind is free from these so called taboos.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This movie stands apart from core brand feminist flicks by keeping a sensible story line hemmed with intimate talk. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kalindi has seen her parents quarreling constantly and has no faith in marriage. For a girl who is brought up with an independent mindset, it comes as a crashing challenge on her personality to bear with the relationship pressures of the groom's family during the wedding.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sakshi is a free spirit that's hard to be contained by her husband. She's having trouble calling the relationship an end.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Meera isn't having a smooth-running marriage either.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Avni is sort of desperate for marriage but is a divorce lawyer and is afraid to get into a relationship. Her mom constantly tries to find her marriage alliance and they somehow never workout for Avni.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Movie reaches its crescendo towards the interval and sadly, second half slows down its tempo.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This thin story line is woven with values passed on by their parents and how their family is put before their ego. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Gang of girls who have been together since their childhood, meet again as Kalindi's (Kareena) wedding is fixed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However sensible men are, this movie might still seem a not so appealing movie for them. Take your best buds with you is my advice!!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
A good watch.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
★★★1/2</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For a movie that received a lot of one and a half stars from big media houses, I had given up the thought of watching the movie. All the commotion that followed the controversy that had to be solved by judiciary intervention might also have been an abetment terming it a publicity stunt.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vbGV5YuHfus/Wm2FCHbzZeI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/BrfmOhky1B4JD3iFxGFC5WeX50EGKHDdQCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/padmaavat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: justify;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vbGV5YuHfus/Wm2FCHbzZeI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/BrfmOhky1B4JD3iFxGFC5WeX50EGKHDdQCK4BGAYYCw/s320/padmaavat.jpg" width="221"></a><br>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Watching the video song of Ek dil ek jaan, I finally decided to watch the movie. Even if the movie would bore me, sets and music could come to my rescue, or so I knew. We went to watch morning show and there were hardly 12 people in the theater for it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes it is a slow movie. It does take time and effort to get the feel of Rajputana and Khilji dynasties. And each scene is twined carefully to create the required impact. It is a movie that appeals for only audience who have patience to read a book. Poetic freedom is the essence of any epic that is woven on the historic events. Since history does not tell us word by word of what has actually happened, each interpretation between the lines can be different. Also when the history has been created majorly by the winning side of the story, one can't take history for fact. I wish the Karni Sena could have watched the movie before pulling all the stunts that it did. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It looks like Bansali has focused most on grooming the character of Sultan Alauddin Khilji than the others in the movie. His costumes, lighting moderation and each frame that Ranveer Singh is in, is solely focused on bringing out his character and Ranveer Singh has scored a full on ten for his performance. Jim Sarbh as Malik Kafur has performed very well as an able sidekick and a blind supporter of each weird move of Sultan. Deepika Padukone as Padmaavati has shone during the introduction and an effective climax. Shahid Kapoor as Chittor's Maharaja leaves his impact in the chemistry with Rani Padmaavati and in the final battle with Sultan. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Dialogues by Prakash Kapadia is a highlight of the movie too. "सर धर से अलग होजाये तब भी हाथ में तलवार चलताराहे, वो है राजपूत" kind of dialogues are not easy to fade away from the viewer's memory. Music and timely songs that blend with the movie are a plus.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Bottom-line is, it takes a relaxed mood and an open mind to enjoy this movie. There's lots to absorb and the movie is deliberately been made a slow one. Having said that, the movie doesn't bore you if you have the patience to have watched a full fledged dance performance or read good novels. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>P.S: </b>Of course do not expect a cabaret or dramatic turns to an already known history. </div>
<div>
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(For all those who could not understand the meaning of seemingly small word epos, I couldn't find a better exact translate of mahakavya (ಮಹಾಕಾವ್ಯ) to express what I wanted to convey. This throws me into one of the hollow of English language in which I occasionally find myself at loss of words to convey thoughts)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Death is a mere word for those who aren't affected</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Affected are the only people who bequeath,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not the treasure that the dead have left behind</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Nor the land, or the glittering gold that lies,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It is the behest what affects you</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And the passed on nonpareil.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
You strive to touch their feat;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the height they achieved during their life,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Immortal height that can be measured</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Only by impact they have had;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
the impact they behest on lives</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Of people who live around.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
One lives only in memories</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the life is called for a purpose, for sure;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
but what stays here is the tale to tell</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
And a legacy that you can carry;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's clear that legacies are immeasurable tangibly;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
they show the tale, they show the goodness and their values,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
that the ones who can carry ahead,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Should be proud to carry on and live on,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Live on like the dearest is still seeing us,</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Like we must pass on, adding some more;</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Some more to the real treasure that is left behind!</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have been having high hopes for Indu Sarkar, since it is made by Madhur Bhandarkar, you might just as well leave it at the door before watching the movie.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
From what we have known from Google, this movie about emergency is as sober as it can be. Maintaining a decorum and not to instigate a threat to internal peace that is existing, may be Madhur Bhandarkar has toned down a lot that might have been initially written for the movie, or the sensor board has cast its edits too many times for it to be a realistic movie.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
For all who expect this flick to be an outburst of rage on the most controversial period of Indian political history and conscience, let me tell you, there are only few of the aspects touched. Movie portraits issue like the most infamous mass sterilisation, Turkman gate mishap and sucking out press freedom. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Recreating each scene from 1975 has been brought in almost flawless with retro style music. The only qawali song in the movie rings in the head even once you are out of theatre. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Indu Sarkar is not even Indira Gandhi's Sarkar. It's the name of a conservative girl whos brought up in orphanage whose sole purpose of life is being a good wife. While she gets married to an officer in civil services and is close to the inner circle of the ruling party, and when she is about to be a ghost poet for the home minister praising Indira's rule, emergency is declared and she is horrified about the consequences that happen around her.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Being constantly told by Sarkar(her husband) not to oppose emergency, she is drawn into the underground movement of peaceful activists. Hold on! It's not due to intellectual interest in causing a Kranti is why she's drawn to activists, but because of emergency's effect on her own life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This is where I felt that Madhur Bhandarkar could have woven the story strong, lest it would have even had a greater impact as a film. Since the movie is too sober for a realistic movie of the barbaric emergency which oppressed people by ruthless killings, third degree punishments and detainment of lakhs of people in jail, had it been woven with a stronger character for Indu Sarkar's motive while she gets into the activism, this would have made a better movie.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Movie needs a rapt attention to be savoured and be disappointed at the same time. Honestly feels that this topic could've been made into a lot heavier movie than this. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Neil Nithin Mukesh as Sanjay Gandhi has done the best he could in looks and performance, Tota Roy Chaudhari as Sarkar, and Kriti Kulhari as Indu are very promising actors and have done a great job. Anupam Kher as Naanaji has performed with his usual ease, Supriya Vinod as Indira Gandhi is biggest disappointment since either her dialogues might have been censored or not filmed at all! Not even one!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
And for all of the "inteflectuals" who tell India is currently undergoing an undeclared emergency, this is must watch for some real ground work as to what emergency could match to up with!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iRaLCyhT67E/WXvkHj9wLiI/AAAAAAAAJjM/zvOUuk2xB14ynK6eTtflqidAc5ugqE7xwCK4BGAYYCw/s1600/pjimage-1493888347.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iRaLCyhT67E/WXvkHj9wLiI/AAAAAAAAJjM/zvOUuk2xB14ynK6eTtflqidAc5ugqE7xwCK4BGAYYCw/s400/pjimage-1493888347.jpg" width="400"></a></div>
Sita: Warrior of Mithila has come out after a long wait of almost 2 years through which I personally have forgot a lot of Scion of Ikshvaku I had read. This book here reminds a lot of scenes from the earlier book and at some point feels like this would have been a chapter in Scion of Ikshvaku instead of being an independent book. <br>
<br>
But the upbringing of Sita, her childhood, an insight into her character are definitely a welcome. I have many times wondered how Sita could survive in Dandakaranya for 14 years when in exile, bearing the hard way of forest dwelling if she was raised just like a delicate princess just to be married and live like a queen. Either she should have had an arduous training during her childhood which helped her to endure the exile, or her conviction to walk with her husband in all walks of life must be unshakable. And Sita being trained like a warrior also could be a possibility, which we do not get much to perceive much from the epic of Valmiki Ramayana.<br>
<br>
But I somehow feel that Amish is great in explaining what happens with nature, forest, and animals more than what is happening to characters of his novel. His novels are gripping when he explains these in detail.<br>
<br>
Like Scion of Ikshvaku, there is woven story about Sita’s Mithila too, and the way that small city is ruled by Sita’s Mother more than Janak, and the larger politics that happen in Sapt Sindhu makes us keep reading the book.<br>
<br>
May be I liked Amish’s Shiva Trilogy since it was completely different from the Shiva Purana though difficult to digest Ganesh and Durga as Nagas. But this series seems to be totally just meant to satiate the whim of the author that is nowhere connected to Ramayana except names and places. He also addresses Sapt SIndhu as India a few times, which was non-existent in the Ramayana timeline.<br>
<br>
But the reader will enjoy the book thoroughly if read as just another work of Amish. The city security features, war scenes, each bit in forest is a good read in the novel. Rest said, I am not liking this Ram Chandra Series a lot and I might rethink before picking his next book which he says that the same story will be from the perspective of Ravan. My question is, when the context of literary intricacy is not much, the author could elaborate only the non-repeating parts of the story, instead of rather putting the same parts of the story in another person’s perspective, unless their experience of the same situation is vastly different from what has already been told!</div>

Hazel Grace is diagnosed with thyroid cancer who is alive because of continuous experimentation with cancer treatments and is relatively stable due to a new drug. She is mostly home-bound due to her disease. Hazel meets Augustus Waters and Isaac in cancer support group when she almost has given up on her chance of making new friends, and the trio develop a strong bond. Augustus falls in love with her as she refrains since she knows her days in life are numbered.</div>

There are parents who like anyone whose kids’ life has an only ultimatum of timed existence are jittery and skittish over everything. The story unfolds between the depths of An Imperial Affliction (AIA) and the Price of dawn, with extreme different topics and width of coverage. Price of dawn is a Sci fi made to a video game where as AIA is a story that tells you about Anna, a little girl ridden with blood cancer who seemingly achieves remission and falls back into final stage of the disease and the story ends abruptly mid-sentence, like the way the afflicted lives end; mid-life & mid-phase without hinting that the good day you spent with them was actually their last good day.<o:p></o:p></div>

Fault in our stars is a perfect frame story – That it actually tells a story within the story to a point where the quotes and the plot of the story within the story (An Imperial Affliction - <i>AIA</i>) becomes so surreal, that the reader might as well think that the “Fault in our stars” was constructed because of AIA. The nested story within seems to have a full-on grip on the lives of Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters in “Fault in our stars” since they both adore the book. Many quotes from the book are brought to life in Hazel & Gus’s conversations. Though the technique of nestled stories is not new, the prowess to the way of telling a story and using the frame story at substantiating every turn in the story is captivating.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
You will find the book light-hearted at times and will compel you to feel it to the point of affecting the reader with the characters. Quotes from the novel are worth spending time to think upon. You will find the book heavy in that ways, and not just as an easy to read novel. Death is a steadfast end of life; but the series of events that lead to it is quite a stressful journey for those who know what will kill them; and for the people who take care of them, it is even more challenging.<o:p></o:p></div>

The answer is in this book. How the relationships are bonded and why they are the way they are, is very well tried and explained in it. I’m yet to watch the movie that made “Fault in our stars” come to life, but am sure everything that is felt in the book is far more vivid than the movie has to show to me. Peter Van Houten, the imaginary author of the imaginary book “An Imperial Affliction” is a character built to stay, to weigh Hazel and Gus, several notches higher is all I can say!<o:p></o:p></div>
